Leo Komarov joins Maple Leafs

It's official. Leo Komarov has signed on to the Maple Leafs for a one year deal. We reported this a while back, and we do not have confirmation on the clause we reported. This is a breaking news story. More will come.

Notes of The Day May 22nd 2012

  • Is there a snag on the deal for the Phoenix Coyotes? There are rumors out there that the Goldwater Institute, yes the same one as last time, could be suing to block the deal. Byron Schlomach of the Goldwater Institute said, " the proposed management fee to the team is too high, because comparable facilities garner around $10 million. That could be reason for the group to sue, he said." in an interview with Bloomberg.
  • Michael Murphy formerly of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Charlotte Checkers has joined an KHL team. He has not told anyone which KHL team he has signed with. In 37GP this year, he won 18 and had a SV% of .908.

Grigorenko to the KHL?

According to Slava Malamud, CSKA Moscow may make an offer to Mikhail Grigorenko. CSKA Moscow has his rights in the KHL after drafting him 8th overall. This may scare NHL teams from drafting him in the upcoming draft.

Leafs signs Komarov

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Dynamo Moscow player Leo Komarov to an entry level contract. The gritty forward has transformed from a pest into a strong all around player. He was drafted by the Leafs in 2006 180th overall. The catch here is that if he does not make the Leafs roster by November, he can return back to the KHL. Time will tell where he goes.

Radulov returns

Alexander Radulov has returned to the Nashville Predators after a stint in the KHL. An extremely gifted player, he has a really good resume in the KHL, being a two-time MVP and having won the KHL championship. he abandoned his contract after the 07-08 season to play in his native country russia. he's done well in the NHL, putting up some decent numbers. He arrives at a great time too. The preds have most likely secured a playoff spot and will need the extra scoring considering their leading goal scorer is only 46th overall and their top points getter is 45th overall.
