Glendale investor Greg Jamison gathered enough investors to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes. There are talks that the deal could be finalized by May 8th. This could be a significant blow to Quebec, Kansas City, Seattle, and Markham. They all want franchises and Phoenix was the only one available all these areas will have to wait for the next franchise to come.

- TSN's James Duthie is reporting that Luongo to submit a list with teams he will be willing to waive his NTC for.
- Sportsnet's Dan Murphy is reporting that the Lightning are in the list.
- MANY, MANY people in the know are agreeing that the Leafs are on the list.
- Lots of rumors that in his exit interview Luongo has asked to be traded.
- James Murphy of the Globe and Mail thinks that Luongo isn't worth too much with his age and his contract being an issue. Maybe a mid 1st rounder or a prospect?
- Jimmy Murphy of ESPN believes Tim Thomas will be traded in the offseason.
- Wings Tomas Holmstrom on retiring, “I love the game, I would love to play three, four more years,” Holmstrom said. “It’s so much fun to come to the rink and everything. It’s just if the body can take it one more year or two more years. There’s lots of wear and tear on the body. - Damien Cox of the Toronto Star has said that the Leafs were given an option at the trade deadline for either Carter Ashton or Steve Downie in exchange for Keith Aulie. However, the main factor in choosing Ashton was that Downie is an RFA this year and is expecting more than $3 Million a year.

NHL Tampering, Award Finalists, Luongo Trade Rumors, and More!
Quick Notes from the day:
- Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo has told reporters that he will waive a NTC if the right situation comes.
- There are reports from multiple people that he has submitted a list with teams he would be willing to waive his NTC for. There are also reports that this list does not exist.
- @Aportzline is saying that the Blue Jackets may be interested in Luongo, but his monster deal is making him a last ditch resort.
- His contract: $5.33 Million cap hit all the way to 2021-2022 and his clause is as follows, NTC (player can supply five-team trade list following final game of 2013-14, valid through July 15, 2014; if player does not submit trade list at that time, team can request a five-team trade list following final game of 2017-18 season, valid through Sept. 1, 2018). If player submitted a trade list in 2014 and was not moved, team loses right to request trade list in 2018. (Source: Capgeek.com)
- Ray Shero is not sure he can re-sign both Jordan Staal and Sidney Crosby and feels that the CBA and their willingness to stay will be a determining factor if they can be re-signed. He also gave a vote of confidence to coach Dan Bylsma saying “I think Dan Bylsma is the right coach for our team”.
- @dchesnokov reports that Leafs' Mikhail Grabovski gave an interview to goals.by saying that there was another offer besides the offer from the Leafs he eventually accepted.
- We are pretty sure that the offer did not come from an NHL team due to the tampering rules in place. Our only explanation is it is from a KHL team.

Raffi Torres Suspension Announced
The league office has announced that Coyotes F Raffi Torrres has been suspended 25 games for the hit that caused Marian Hossa to leave in a stretcher.

In the video explanation, Shanahan states that "Torres launched himself to deliver a late, direct hit to the head of Chicago forward Marian Hossa. After the puck is poked off Hossa's stick, he turns towards the middle of the ice. As Hossa turns to recover the looks puck ... it is clear (Torres) sees t hat Hossa is no longer in possession of the puck because Torres takes a one-handed swipe at it with his sticks. Torres then leaps into the air and drives his left shoulder into Hossa's head. This is a violation of three NHL rules: interferece, charging and illegal check to the head.
This is the third time Torres has been suspended by the NHL in the last 13 months and Shananhan acknowledges that Torres's previous suspension history played a factor into the length of the ban.
His previous suspensions included 4 games in April of last year for an illegal hit on the Edmonton Oiler's Jordan Eberle; he was also fined $2500 for elbowing the Colorado Avalanche's Jan Hedja on December 29; and he was suspended for 2 games on December 31 for another illegal hit on the Minnesota Wild'sNate Prosser. Torres also had an illegal hit on Chicago's defenceman Brent Seabrook that drew no suspension, much to the surprise of everyone.

Calder Finalist Released
The finalist for the Calder trophy has been released. The three finalists are Edmonton's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, New Jersey Devils' Adam Henrique , and Colorado Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog.
Henrique came up as a surprise., but he has excelled with 16 goals and 35 assists in 71 games.
Nugent-Hopkins before his injury had an amazing season with 18 goals and 34 assists in 62 games. A 0.83 points per game pace is nothing to be ashamed of. However, I believe he will need to show people he's not easily injured and pushed around to be a legitimiate star. It will be interesting to see what the injury will mean to his chances of winning the Calder.
Landeskog had 52 points in 82 games is nothing to be ashamed of, but his amazing +/- of 20 is amazing and will make him a legitimate contender for the award.
Other notables:
Matt Read: I believed Read should have be given the oppurtunity,but it just seems that someone had to be left off right?
Our choices:
Alson: Landeskog.

Ilya Bryzgalov injured?
In today's practice, Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov practiced for ten minutes before having to leave the ice. Michael Leighton has been brought up from the AHL to take his spot. This can bring up an interesting scenario. The last time Leighton was brought up during the playoffs, he led them to the Stanley Cup Final. However, will the same be done again? What do you think? Patrick Roy as the Next Head Coach Of The Habs
The Quebec Remparts and Patrick Roy have announced a press confrence tomorrow for season's end. With the Remparts out of the QMJHL playoffs, Patrick Roy could be installed as the head coach of the Habs as early as next week. Keep it here as we will have more news as it comes out.

Really? 39 Seconds?
Yesterday before the Ottawa/New York game, Matt Carkner was included in to the lineup. Carkner skated a whole 39 seconds before this broke out. (Note: The feed is from MSG, which in my opinion, is pretty biased...)
This is "retaliation" from Game 1 when Boyle started throwing punches at Karlsson. Carkner was ejected (fighting, game misconduct), as well as Brandon Dubinsky because he was the third man in. Carkner has a hearing with the league at 12PM. What do you think? Fine? Suspension? COMMENT BELOW!

Brent Sutter Fired and then Rehired
Last Thursday, Brent Sutter and the Calgary Flames agreed to part ways after 3 years together. Less than 24 hours later, Sutter accepted the invitation to be the head coach of Team Canada at the Men's World Hockey Championship.
Sutter joins the assistant coaches, Kirk Muller and Guy Boucher, to round out the coaching staff on Team Canada.
This is Sutter's fourth occasion coaching Team Canada. He led the IIHF World Junior Championship to two gold medals during 2005 and 2006. He also had a 7-0-1 record as a coach in the 2006 Canada Russia Super Series.
As per Sportsnet.ca's Mike Brophy, Eakins is a strong candidate to replace Sutter as the head coach of Calgary. Other candidates include Troy Ward, Mike Sullivan, Craig MacTavish, Bob Boughner, and Bob Hartley.

Linus Omark wants out?
Edmonton Oilers' young forward tweeted today, "I really hope edm let me have a chance in another nhl team". That is probably the final nail on the coffin for Omark who has been in the press box as a healthy scratch for a good portion of the season. However, we don't blame him, sitting around as a valuable asset in the press box? I would want out too.

Alson: I don't see the Oilers keeping this pick because they are so overloaded on forward talent, but the consensus first overall pick is Nail Yakupov. However, watch for Ryan Murray to maybe sneak in to first if the Oilers are that desperate for D.
Kyle: I believe this pick will either get traded in a blockbuster deal or they will select Ryan Murray. Edmonton desperately needs some proven NHL players or a future all star defenceman.
Wexler: Two options for the Oilers:
1) Trade the pick for a young NHL defenseman plus another pick. I can see them going after players like; Luke Schenn, John Carlson, Michael Del Zotto, and Zach Bogosian
2) Keep the pick and Draft Yakopov!!! He's a very flexible player able to play both wings!!! He can also help out the Oilers under-average Power Play.
Geoffrey: I agree that the Oilers might move the pick because they really don't need more forwards. They might move their pick for a top 10 pick and maybe a good defensemen and then use the pick acquired to get another defensemen.

Alson: Fillip Forsberg completely dominating his own age group in Sweden. It will be interesting what how he reacts to playing with such elite talent.
Kyle: Grigorenko or Forsberg because the Canadiens still do not have many big guys on their team.
Wexler: Montreal is going to draft Foresberg because of the fact they need better improvements on their wings (from Gomez to Forsberg)
Geoffrey: A big forward. Plekanac is 5-11 and Gionta's like the shortest guy in the league. You got to have some size on your team if you want to compete, especially against division rivals like Boston.
4. New York Islanders
Alson: Ryan Murray. With Tavares and Niederreiter in the front, they can focus on their back end. Ryan Murray in my opinion, is a NHL ready D Man that can significantly help the Islanders next year.
Kyle: The best defenceman available, hopefully Murray because the Islanders only have Mark Streit as their legit offensive defenceman.
Wexler: RYAN MURRY!!! With all the aged defenseman on their team they need a new, younger d-man to help control the blue line.
Geoffrey: Matthew Dumba because I don't think he will be available for the Islanders. The Isles have great forwards like Moulson, Tavares, Grabner and Niederreiter to name a few. The only defensemen prospect I can think the Islanders have is Calvin De Haan, who was the seventh defensemen for Team Canada a while back

Alson: Alex Galchenyuk is the big power, truculent, first line center Brian Burke drools about.When he is NHL ready, which I expect maximum one year from now,

Wexler: The top forward available whether it be Grigorenko or Forsberg... (hopefully they will be available)
Geoffrey: Burke will probably draft the biggest forward out there or he might trade this pick for an NHL caliabre forward. If Burke wants to pull off the big trade, the pick with other assets might go to colombus for nash because colombus would be in the perfect spot for rebuilding

#2 Boston Bruins vs #7 Washington Capitals
Alson: Bruins in five. The Caps nearly missed the playoffs and the only reason why they were in the playoffs are because Ovie decided to step up his game. If he doesn't have the entire team step up, there's not much to dispute about.
Kyle:
Geoffrey: Bruins in six. The Caps are doing well right now with Ovechkin playing like a superstar and getting back Backstrom. But the rough and tough game of the Bruins will be too much for them. Watch Ovie get decked by Chara throughout the series.
Ronnie:
Marcus: Bruins in 7.
#3 Florida Panthers vs #6 New Jersey Devils
Alson: Florida in 7. Panthers have a suprising run this year and I feel that they will continue their miraculous run in the playoffs.
Kyle:
Geoffrey: Devils in 6. The Panthers magical run ends here. Even though Florida has a higher seed than the Devils, the Devils finished better overall. That's why I don't like that the top in the division gets an automatic top 3 seed. But Brodeur and the Devils will finished them off.

Alson: Rangers in 5. Look it just comes down to Henrik vs Anderson. Karlsson and Spezza are great players are one of the only reasons why they are even IN the playoffs. However, there's not much in the tank left for them in my opinion.

Geoffrey: Rangers in 5. Anderson and Bishop may be decent but the combination of King Henrik and Biron is way better. Karlsson and Spezza might be able to steal a game for the Sens but Alfredsson is going to have one disappointing last playoff series.

Alson: Bruins in five. The Caps nearly missed the playoffs and the only reason why they were in the playoffs are because Ovie decided to step up his game. If he doesn't have the entire team step up, there's not much to dispute about.

Geoffrey: Bruins in six. The Caps are doing well right now with Ovechkin playing like a superstar and getting back Backstrom. But the rough and tough game of the Bruins will be too much for them. Watch Ovie get decked by Chara throughout the series.

#3 Florida Panthers vs #6 New Jersey Devils
Alson: Florida in 7. Panthers have a suprising run this year and I feel that they will continue their miraculous run in the playoffs.
Kyle:
Geoffrey: Devils in 6. The Panthers magical run ends here. Even though Florida has a higher seed than the Devils, the Devils finished better overall. That's why I don't like that the top in the division gets an automatic top 3 seed. But Brodeur and the Devils will finished them off.

Marcus: Devils in 6.
#4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs #5 Philadelphia Flyers
Alson: Pens in 5. I'm not going to lie. Pens are my team. I love the Penguins so i'm biased, not going to lie. Bryzgalov has been alright, and the Penguins are a lot deeper compared to the Flyers. The Flyers have Jagr and Giroux, but the Penguins have Fleury, Malkin, Crosby, and Letang. They are also a lot tougher with Joe Vitale and that's all the reasoning I need.
Kyle:
Geoffrey: Pens in 7. Probably the best series to watch. Jagr coming home to Pittsburgh after spending most of his career there and defenitley will be a hotly contested game as evident from the April 1st game. Matt Cooke will be the most important player for the Pens because he'll need to be watching out for Crosby, Malkin and Staal and dealing with anybody who messes with these star players.

Marcus: Flyers in 7.
Western Conference
#1 Vancouver Canucks vs #8 Los Angeles Kings
Alson: Kings in 5. This will shock a lot of people but I believe they can beat the Canucks. Quick is dialed in and ready to go. Carter and Richards are good only together, and with Doughty, I'm definately interested in this team. Also don't forget, Luongo has a history of choking up in the playoffs...
Kyle:
Geoffrey: Kings in 7. The Kings are starting to click together ever since acquiring Carter. Quick is a Vezina candidate and the Kings are up top in goals against. Even though the Kings aren't one of the highest scoring teams, they can still be the Canucks. Remember, offense wins the regular season, defense wins championships.

Marcus: Canucks in 5.

#2 St. Louis Blues vs #7 San Jose Sharks
Alson: Blues in 5. Blues have GREAT depth and great goaltending, and San Jose Sharks always chokes up in the playoffs, it just depends in first or second round. My money is on the first round.
Kyle:
Geoffrey: Blues in 6. The Sharks have never found their rhythm in the playoffs. the Blues have allowed the fewest goals in the history of the NHL and that's going to stand out in this matchup. But the depth of the Sharks will make this series a bit interesting.

Marcus: Blues in 5.
#3 Phoenix Coyotes vs #6 Chicago Blackhawks
Alson: 'Yotes in 6. Smith has been playing great, and I feel that the 'Yotes are a lot more motivated than years before. I just have a gut feeling on this one...
Kyle:
Geoffrey: Hawks in 6. Smith has been riding a hot glove and he'll extend the series but Phoenix has been pretty lucky going from 8th to 3rd in the last few days because of the division playoff seed. When Chicago gets back Toews, watch out.

Alson: Preds in 6. Pekka Rinne. Simple as that. He is dangerous and the fact he's playing good even for him, this is something to be feared. Also, don't forget, the Red Wings are getting old...

Geoffrey: Red Wings in 5. The Red Wings are healthy and dangerous. Throughout the season, they've been crushed by injuries. If they didn't have injuries, they should have won the President's Trophy. The Preds really added depth to their lineup but they will be no match to the skills of the Red Wings.

The NHL Entry Draft Lottery will be held on Tuesday at 8 PM ET. You can watch it on TSN in Canada. At the draft lottery will be; Columbus Blue Jackets Executive VP of Hockey Operations and GM Scott Howson, Edmonton Oilers GM Steve Tambellini, Montreal Canadiens Assistant GM Laryy Carriere, New York Islanders Director of Pro Scouting Ken Morrow, Toronto Maple Leafs President and GM Brian Burke will all be in attendance.

Playoff Teams decided
After yesterday's matchup, 16 teams have clinched playoff spots. It's been a long time since all the playoffs spots have been taken before the last day of the regular season. Here are the playoff teams in order of rankings.

The game to watch will definitley be the Pens-Flyers game as it will be a preview of their playoff matchup and especially after the huge fiasco in their last meeting.

Just a few quick notes and news from the afternoon
- Carey Price has been diagnosed with a "mild" concussion. This may be something to be worried about as this may lead to a James Reimer like performance, with him coming back and being unable to maintain his production before his injury. Not to scare Habs fans but don't forget, Nathan Horton has been out with a "mild" concussion since Feburary.
- Tyler Myers will be out for at least the rest of the regular season with a foot injury. We don't know about the playoffs.
- Carl Gunnarson has a seperated shoulder and will be out for the year.
- P.A. Parentau's agent hassaid that he has recieved zero offers to keep his client in Long Island.
- The most sought after college player right now D Justin Schultz has not decided and will probably try the UFA market this year.
- Calgary is not interested in a "Edmonton-like" rebuild.
Julien Brisebois and Vincent Damphousse Isn't Interested In Habs GM Position
Talks out of Montreal's RDS are saying that once preferred Habs GM candidate Julien Brisebois is no longer interested in the GM job. The assistant GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning would have passed on the offer if he was offered the job of being the next General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens. With Brisebois out of the picture, the next top candidate is apparently Vincent Damphousse. No word on the coach right now except for maybe Patrick Roy.
However, I feel that this situation will be cleared up before the Draft and latest June 27th. I feel that whoever the new GM is, he would prefer to draft his own players instead of spending a year. The June 27th deadline is the latest I think any GM would want to go because on July 1st free agency starts and before free agent frenzy starts, most GMs would want a few days to settle down. However, with the chance of a lockout looming, this can change in an instant.

3:33 What I'm hearing right now from around the league is that Geoff Molson has contacted the following:
Claude Loiselle: Toronto Maple Leafs Assistant GM (Apparently the Leafs have granted the Habs permission to talk to him about the job.)
Pat Brisson: NHL Agent. His clients include Sidney Crosby, Daniel Alfredsson, and Claude Giroux. (Considered by many as the best agent available out there by many of the hockey insiders we spoke to.)
Julien Brisebois: Assistant GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning (Apparently not intersted though)
Marc Bergevin: Assistant GM of the Chicago Blackhawks. (Not too sure if the Blackhawks have granted permission to talk to him yet.)
Francois Giguere: Former GM of the Colorado Avalanche. (Is the apparent long shot because he has not been in the front office of any team for a few years now.)
Paul Fenton: Fenton is the Assistant GM of the Nashville Predators. (Not sure if the Predators have granted permission to talk to him yet.

Patrick Roy: Even though he has been rumored for the job, it seems that the coaching job is his to lose and infact he does not seem to intersted to step in to the front office of the Habs, preffering a job behind the bench.

Andrei Markov Injury Status.
We've seen a lot of searches recently about whether Habs D-Man Andrei Markov is injured or not.
Habs fans rejoice! He is not injured. He has been playing on the Habs patrolling the back end. He has been slowly being added back into the line up with 17 minutes on the ice on the 24th, to almost 22 minutes on the ice yesterday. So Habs fans don't worry, Markov is back!
